Madeleine Peyroux: Madeleine Peyroux has spent the better part of the last two decades touring and recording contemporary jazz music that has garnered her comparisons to Billie Holiday. The Georgia native was discovered on the streets of Paris at age fifteen when she was performing in the Lain Quarter. She joined the Lost Wandering Blues and Jazz Band and toured Europe as a teen before releasing her debut album in 1996. Upon releasing her debut, Dreamland, Peyroux was immediately hailed by critics as one of the year's breakthrough artists. Following her impressive debut, Peyroux disappeared from the mainstream and moved back to Paris where she performed locally. More recently, Peyroux released her latest album, Standing on the Rooftop, in June, 2011. The album debuted at #3 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart and Peyroux hit the road to promote the disc. She has been hailed as a neo-jazz sensation who has consistently released critically acclaimed albums.
